Why Do Humans Sweat While Dogs Pant To Cool Themselves?

Humans have sweat glands but dogs do not. When we sweat, water in our bodies evaporates through sweat glands. Evaporating water takes surface heat along with it as it converts to vapor.

Dogs get rid of excess heat by panting. Panting helps circulate the necessary air throughout the body which helps them cool down. Dogs can also cool down by jumping into water, but that is not always an option. Getting excessively hot is a serious problem for dogs with fur.

Sweating or panting is not a way of getting rid of excess water; it is a way of getting rid of heat. Most organisms do not want to get rid of excess water; they need to conserve it, but on very hot days animals "spend" the water to achieve cooling. Even human beings pant when we do vigorous exercises which helps us cool down.
